  Got this, but only the esc button and E button. Rest seemed to work just fine.

  I just experienced the same thing. Tabbed out to write on the Discord and when I tabbed into the game again (without reloading the save or restarting the game) and it was working again. Might be related to some game init logic. Just wanted to add here for debugging purposes that it worked for me without having to reload or restart the game, just waiting seems to do the trick (or tabbing out and back in)

  Something like this happened to me. I was in the storage pulling some items, I clicked ESC, and suddenly my menu keys were not working anymore (Tab, M, Esc). I was able to keep playing and do almost everything , but I was not able to click ESC or Tab to go to the game menu to save the game. I waited for more than 20 minutes, I was switching screens in my computer between Discord, Steam, Chrome, trying to see if game worked again, but nothing made it work. I had to force closing the game from Steam. I lost my 5 hours progress :(
