Water gun in storage prevents interaction with anything

I'm no 100%, but both me and my partner lost the ability to interact with storages, devices, machines, anything whatsoever, after storing the water gun and bottles into a chest. then because it's in a chest and you can't interact, you softlock yourself unless you alt-f4 which then reverts progress. Happened to both of us, only thing that we both did was put this into storage, so am fairly confident that's the trigger.
